Classroom Reading Program

Just the Truth

Our first classroom reading program features Gen LaGreca’s latest novel, Just the Truth, a political thriller and murder mystery. This reading material aligns with Indiana and other states’ standards for civics: election process, freedom of the press and of speech, U.S. Constitution, rights.

Set in Washington, DC, in the near future, Just the Truth portrays the threats to a free press in an era of growing, unchecked government and the courage of one journalist who risks everything to uncover a plot that just might manipulate a presidential election. This dogged newswoman battles a powerful administration and a compromised media to keep journalism, a free press—and truth—alive. Published in June 2020, Just the Truth foretold major news stories breaking months later. It offers a penetrating look into the role of journalism and freedom of the press in holding those in power accountable. The hero and heroine’s noble pursuit of truth is inspiring, and its plot is page-turning.

Independence Day Celebrations

We are continuing our popular community activities in Hamilton County, Indiana, highlighting the introduction of the Declaration of Independence to the American colonists and the courageous stories of the signers of the original Declaration. Our amazing poster, Be a Signer of the Declaration of Independence, has become a learning tool for parents to explain the Declaration to their children, with entire families adding their names. Now everyone can Be a Signer and take the pledge our Founders took to live in freedom. Students can earn extra credit when they participate in this celebration of the document that changed the world.
